PortSIP VoIP SDK v19.4.0 is Ready

PortSIP VoIP SDK

Jun 4, 2024, PortSIP, a leading developer of modern unified communications solutions, announced the release of PortSIP VoIP SDK v19.4.0, available for iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS.

PortSIP VoIP SDK is a modern SIP client framework for developing audio and video calling applications. The SIP SDK is available for all leading operating systems, enabling a fast time-to-market on all platforms, including iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, and WebRTC. Some large companies such as T-Mobile, Qualcomm, HPE, Siemens, Panasonic, Telstra, Keysight, Nextiva, Netflix, and Dialogic use this SDK to build their apps.

The SDK is designed for developing audio, video, and IM apps, supporting sharing screen, sending files, pictures, voice, and video messages, and accelerating and simplifying the development.

Key Updates in PortSIP VoIP SDK v19.4.0

  • Added a new API enablePriorityIPv6Domain to allow developers to specify the preferred protocol (IPv4 or IPv6) when a server domain supports both. By default, IPv4 will be prioritized. This offers more granular control over network connectivity for your VoIP applications.
  • To ensure consistency and avoid potential parsing issues, the SDK now enforces the inclusion of quotes around the DisplayName field in SIP URI. This behavior change aligns with standard SIP message formatting.
  • The new setUriUserEncoding API provides developers with the ability to modify the default character encoding used for the username portion of URIs. This allows for greater flexibility in handling special characters within usernames.
  • The SDK now supports SIP messages with a maximum length of 16KB, doubling the previous limit of 8KB. This caters to the evolving needs of VoIP applications that may require transmission of larger messages.
  • These enhancements provide developers with more control over network behavior, improved message formatting compliance, and the ability to handle more complex scenarios within their VoIP applications.
